BASIC CLINICAL CONCEPTS I
This course will cover basic psychoanalytic concepts and methods of practice. The first four classes will set the stage by focusing on how we define ourselves as psychoanalysts, what we call the “analytic attitude,” and how we set up and work within “the frame” of psychoanalysis. The next four classes will illuminate the work of psychoanalysis through an understanding of the unconscious. Discussions will include enactment, transference and countertransference, dreams, unformulated experience, and intersubjectivity. Readings will be drawn from classic and contemporary sources.
